Pasadena History and Private Garage Tour and Potluck

The Club will meet in the fine old Pasadena home of Susan and Creighton Turner for an afternoon and evening of fun. A tour of one of the private car collections in the area is being scheduled, followed by a potluck dinner. In the evening we will be entertained by a docent of the Peterson Automotive Museum who will tell us the little known and almost forgotten story of automobile manufacturing in Pasadena…that’s right Pasadena! This is a potluck dinner, so bring a dish to share and your preferred libations. The club will provide BBQ Chicken and Ribs, tables, chairs, condiments, flatware and soft drinks/coffee/tea. This year's picnic will be held at El Dorado Park in Long Beach. There is no cost for this event, but you must sign up in advance, either by phone, mail, or through the website. All food and beverages provided by the Club. Please bring your favorite dessert to enter in our famous Dessert Contest. May has arrived! Cinco de Mayo is upon us. May 5th is also my 34th. Wedding anniversary to the lovely First Lady Harriet. No excuse to forget! That same date will find some of us attending the 2013 British Car Extravaganza. Held at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park west of Bakersfield in the San Joaquin Valley. What is the old saying about attending a race event in the hot noon day sun? “Only mad dogs and Englishmen”! Two days at the track with ascetic back road drive on part of the return trip to L.A.
May 19th is our annual JOC Concours at the Muckenthaler Museum in Fullerton, Ca. This is held in conjunction with the Muck’s annual car show so there will be a variety of cars to review. There will be food, drink, entertainment plus arts and crafts on the grounds and in the museum. We may have a C Type, D Type and a 220 in attendance so please plan to attend.
