  • HISTORIAN’S CORNER – WHAT IS IN A NAME?

By Gene Cohen “That which we call a Jaguar. By any other name would smell as sweet” Car names come in all kinds of configurations with letters, numbers, names of places, animals or people and some completely made up with the help of an advertising agency. Jaguar has a unique naming history with many interesting stories behind ...

  • “RAGS DOWN” ALONG WITH A COW BELL Or my first Concours d’Elegance

By Gene Cohen At 10:00 A.M. on September 24, 2016 that call and sound rang through the Inland Empire’s “Jagstravaganza”  Concours dÉlegance  and everybody knew the judging was about to begin. JOC Poppy Tour

Creig and Susan Turner's Home, 04/09/2017, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Annual Amazing and Incredible

Poppy Blossom Tour

By Creig Turner

Once again, by special arrangement from Mr. Tata and the gods of Jaguardom, we have obtained a guarantee of a gorgeous, rain free, sun dappled spring day for Sunday, April 9th, on which day we will conduct yet another tour of the beautiful Antelope Valley in search of the elusive California poppy.

We have enjoyed a bit of precipitation in recent months which will have brought those little buggers a’bud in vast profusion, and besides, the Antelope Valley Ploppy Commission has, with straight face, assured us that this will be the richest, lushest bloom ever. We will stop for a picnic lunch somewhere up there, exact location still a closely guarded secret, even to our leader.

There is a visitors center there which charges either $9 or $10 per car and we may eat at their picnic tables if we’re lucky. Otherwise, we will picnic among the blossoms and enjoy nature, our Jaguars, and each other.

So, dust off the old bomb and sweet talk your sweetie into whipping together a sumptuous picnic basket to help stave off starvation once we find this place, and bop on over to Jaguar Poppy HQ (that’s 260 State St in merrie olde Pasadena) between 9 and 10AM. We will prepare our sinews with a few healthful donuts and some Italian coffee to set the bladders straight.  Then, after distribution of various misleading gobbets of misinformation, and a few thousand brilliant words, we will gaily set forth on a snarling cavalcade up and over the Angeles Crest Highway, eventually to experience true flower power.

If there are any questions you can call Creig Turner at 626 799 9087, or creigt@aol.com.  So, see you all at nineish at 260 State Street, Pasadena, on April 9.

Yee haaa.
