A Word from the President

May 22, 2017 in President's Column

Spring is finally here with its sense of rebirth and new growth. Our first event of this Spring, just completed, was a trip to The Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. The weather was good to us, with more than ample rain, followed on Sunday by bright but not brilliant sun providing for most Poppies to open if not perhaps fully. The partial cloudy sky produced an amazing benefit.  We saw part of a rainbow that appeared totally within a single dark cloud.

Our indefatigable Tour Master, Creighten Turner, found the most direct and most enjoyable roads to get us there and also an interesting drive back to the L.A. basin.  Look for the photos elsewhere in this issue.

The Judges School is coming up and will help us prepare for this months Concours at the Muckenthaler  Museum in Fullerton. As mentioned before, this is a show within a show, so there are many other cars besides Jaguars to be viewed and there is music and food available. Gates open at 8, Judges meeting at 9:30 followed by Judging from 10 to 1:30 ish with the awards ceremony at or near 2:30. Bring  a chair, save time to  view all the Jags as well  as the other vehicles  there and enjoy the  amenities.

Here are some other upcoming events to consider for your calendar in addition to the JOCLA Concours, namely on Saturday, June 10th is the Automotive Driver’s Club All British Car Day with Craft Brew Tour/Lunch in El Segundo and the San Marino Motor Classic on June 11.

There is a lot happening for the rest of May and June. We hope you can make at least one of these events.
