California Route 66 Museum

A real road trip!  Meet up in Ontario for a caravan up Highway 15 to the California Route 66 Museum in Victorville.  After a docent led tour, we’ll head down the street to an authentic 50’s style eatery, Richie’s All American Diner, for lunch.  You won’t believe the menu!

After lunch you can return home on the 15 or take one of two scenic routes we have planned.  Route #1 heads out Happy Trails Highway to Lucerne and then over the mountains through Big Bear Lake, ending at the 210 Freeway in San Bernardino.  83 miles, two hours fifteen minutes.

Route #2 goes west from Victorville on Highway 18, then on to Mt. Emma Road, Angeles Forest Drive and eventually onto Angeles Crest Highway and ends at the 210 in La Canada / Flintridge.   Along the way you will have a chance to take a peek at the Devil’s Punchbowl, where three fault lines, including the San Andreas, intersect.  80 miles, two hours, not including the Punchbowl side trip.

Your hosts for this event are Club President, Jim Friel and wife Betty.  There is no cost for the Museum visit and lunch is on your own tab.  Please note that in order to have enough docents at the museum and seats at the restaurant; we do request that you sign up.  Email Jim at
