From the President

September 15, 2017 in President's Column

Well, September is here, Fall cannot be far behind so it’s time to prepare for Fall events and end of year activities. For September, we have a tour of the Route 66 Museum in Victorville followed by a 50’s type Diner in Victorville followed by a choice of return trips home. The Route 66 Museum is certainly different from most Museums that we visit because there are no complete cars in the Museum. (There is a sawed-off VW Bus all dressed up in flowers and other artistic touches visible, a great photographic opportunity, but no complete cars.) Rather this is a Museum about a time and place important in our History. Most of (us older folks) have traveled this road at some time in our lives and have stories to tell about it.

If in fact, you have never traveled this road, you have the opportunity to do so on your return home from the Museum by returning home by going South on I 15 and exiting on Foothill Blvd. which drops you onto Route 66.

Not the most interesting part, but Route 66 none the less.

At the end of September those of you interested in Concours must be aware of the Inland Empire Club Concours in Idyllwild on the 29th through the 30th.

October12-15th is the International Jaguar Festival in Buford, Georgia, just north of Atlanta.

In November, the Three Rivers Trip to Sequoia National Park is planned for the 3rd 4, 5th. This is an event that brings together members of other clubs besides ours.

Several clubs in Northern California have been invited to this event. This provides an opportunity to meet other enthusiasts outside of more local clubs.

It is always wonderful to visit the giant Sequoia trees and the quiet of a majestic forest. You know that the Sequoia Trees are the largest in the world by volume.

The Redwoods are taller but smaller than the Sequoia in volume. Adjacent but more remote to Sequoia National Park is Kings Canyon National Park. If interested you should sign up soon in order to have a room this year.

As to finishing events for this year, we are in the process leading up to the election of officers for next year. This is the time for you to express interest in either being on the Nomination Committee or in running for a position on the Board. (contact Judy Graven at if interested).

In particular, this year we are looking for someone to serve as our Membership Chair.

Within the next month or two you will be asked to vote for the 5 elected positions.

The new Board members will be introduced at our December event.

Details of all of these upcoming events appear elsewhere in this issue of the Tales.
